María del Tango

María del Tango (Caniles, Granada, 1992) is one of the most distinctive and honest voices in today’s contemporary flamenco scene.

Her artistic language stands out for balancing the purity of tradition with electronic and urban experimentation.

Born in the mountains of Granada, her relationship with art began when she was very young, singing saetas in her hometown. She defines herself as a self-taught artist who forged her voice and stagecraft singing in the streets and tablaos of Granada’s Albaicín.

After her years in Granada, she moved to Cádiz around eight years ago, a land that has deeply influenced her style and where she currently lives.

María del Tango’s music is shaped by a “creative honesty” that she describes as a bridge between tradition and the avant-garde. It draws from old cante and Andalusian folklore while incorporating electronic sounds, Andalusian rock and world music.
